My brother in law was actually the one who first told me about the Canon MP480. He has worked for Canon for almost 20 years, and has always bragged about the MP480 and their other printers.

As for me, I basically knew nothing about printers, and had not owned one for many years. The last printer that I owned was an Epson inkjet. It took FOREVER to power up, drank ink like it was going out of style, and sounded like a 747 taking off! Other than that, it was a great printer.

So, I really did not know WHAT to expect from the Canon MP480.

I recently had gone in to business for myself, so I had to complete the task of equipping my home office. I already had a fax machine, but still needed a scanner, copier, and of course, a printer.

I had some basic requirements regarding a printer. As an attorney, I frequently print legal documents. Consequently, text quality was of the utmost importance. I also takes lots of pictures of accident scenes, etc., so image prints were important, too. Finally, I have an extremely cramped office space, and TONS of file cabinets, etc., so the printer would have to have a small footprint.

I went online to Amazon.com and started to read aMP480 review, and it was very positive. Still, I wanted to "shop around" a little bit. So I started doing some research on photo printers.

I came across theCanon ip4600 photo printer, and I liked it alot, too. So, I simply asked my brother in law which model I should select. He said that they both were excellent, and I couldn't go wrong with either model.

The Canon MP480was a little less money, so I decided tobuy the MP480!

Right off the bat, I could tell that the MP480 satisfied one of my requirements. It is VERY compact, and barely takes up any space at all! Also, it is relatively quiet, especially compared to my Epson.

I wanted to chaeck out the scanner, so I scanned some legal documents. I was amazed at the resolution of the scanner, especially considering the Canon MP480is not a stand alone scanner.

It prints 4X6 color photos in about 45 seconds, which is pretty impressive, too!

Finally, I printed some legal documents, and the text quality was remarkable! My brother in law has always said that Canon printers are famous for superb text quality, and the Canon MP480 is no exception!
